Our client is a large local charity that works to improve the lives of vulnerable people across the Northeast.


With hybrid and flexible working available the role could be the ideal opportunity for a HR Advisor looking to take a step up.


You will be responsible for leading and managing the HR function to ensure effective implementation of HR policies and procedures, support with recruitment, development and retention of a diverse workforce and foster a positive work environment.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day HR function effectively.
  • Oversee the recruitment process to attract and retain talent individuals including developing and implementing recruitment strategies including the onboarding processes.
  • Oversee the payroll processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and handling payroll-related issues.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of HRIS.
  • Collaborate with line manager and finance team to develop, manage and monitor the HR budget, ensuring it encompasses all aspects including employee benefits, reward programmes, training and development costs and other HR related expenses.
  • Develop initiatives to enhance employee engagement and wellbeing.
  • Implement leadership development initiatives to build internal leadership capacity.
  • Oversee the performance management process, ensuring clear objectives, regular feedback and effective performance management reviews.
  • Support Managers in addressing performance issues and developing improvement plans.
  • Conduct regular salary reviews and administer employee benefits.
  • Develop and manage employee recognition and reward programmes.
  • Utilise HR data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage organisational change and transition.
  • Develop and manage succession planning processes.



Person Specification

  • Previous experience of working in a generalist role within the third sector or in a multi-faceted organisation
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification
  • Knowledge of diversity and inclusion best practice
  • Previous experience in recruitment, employee relations, performance management and policy development
