Our client is looking for a dynamic and client-oriented professional to join their Sales and Marketing team as a UK Account Manager to develop and manage their client portfolio in the United Kingdom. The business is a global in vitro diagnostics company specialising in the manufacture of clinical capillary electrophoresis and coagulation equipment. They are a leading international company in their field providing excellent opportunities to driven self-starters wanting to progress their careers to the next level.

The UK account manager will report directly to the Sales and Marketing Director, and will join a team of 9 sales and marketing professionals.

Job Role

The responsibilities required in this role are:

The primary function of a UK Account Manager is to build customer relationships and drive sales. On a broader level, the responsibilities will be related to customer service, sales, marketing and public relations and to be the “face” of a company and help bring in new business and retain existing customers. The designated person also has an objective of raising awareness among / across the internal team.

Business, Strategy and Planning

  • Responsible for complete customer mapping e.g. identify stakeholder, span of business and business potential
  • Monitor and report competitors’ activities
  • Prepare action plans and schedules to identify business opportunities
  • Plan the strategy for designated Key Accounts for the current year as well as for the long term (3-5 years) to substantially increase share of business in the key accounts segment
  • Build strategy in conjunction with the sales, service and marketing team to persuade customers to switchover solutions
  • Plan on new initiatives to drive revenues and profitable growth
  • Help plan marketing activities and devise budgets for UK spending
  • Monitor and answer MSC and public tenders
  • Responsible for reporting business data on a quarterly and annual basis

 

Sales and Negotiation

  • Demonstrable ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of key customer needs and requirements
  • Manage contract negotiations and tender activity as required
  • Establish and maintain current customer and potential customer relationships
  • Act as a key account manager for the product range following up qualified leads and converting these into buying customers
  • Build a strong sales pipeline to foster long term sustainable growth
  • Work together with Senior Managers to produce financial proposals and quotations
  • Responsible to schedule new leads, number and location of client visits and statistics on sales calls and follow-up visits
  • Continuous relationship with key accounts and upsell on new products or services

 

Customer Relations

  • Build and maintain trusting, strong, long-lasting client relationships with a portfolio of customers
  • Resolve any issues faced by customers and deal with complaints to maintain trust
  • Expand relationships with existing customers by proposing solutions that meet their needs
  • Promptly deal with customer enquiries, requests and complaints
  • Regularly visit customer accounts in accordance with the promotional programme, meeting all activity requirements on the Buying and Working Platform, to engender a good selling environment and to maintain excellent customer relations
  • Responsible for entire KOL management and stakeholder management
  • Ensure existing customers have their needs met and regularly renew contracts with the company
  • Responsible for educating colleagues and customers on latest product or service information
  • Assist with challenging client requests or issue escalations as needed

 

Product Marketing

  • Help perform product and instrument demonstrations including workshops and educational events
  • Work with the sales team to ensure control of the process of necessary product evaluations relevant to the sales and marketing function as outlined in the market plan
  • Develop a network with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and act as an ambassador for the business
  • Travel extensively and overnight stay in and out of specified territory as required to also attend conferences, exhibitions and relevant sponsored events
  • Prepare reports on account status, sales forecast and track key account metrics
  • Collaborate with sales team to identify and grow opportunities

The following skills are desirable:

  • Proven work experience as an Account Manager or relevant role
  • Solid experience with CRM software (e.g. Salesforce, Zoho CRM or HubSpot) and MS Office (particularly MS Excel)
  • Experience delivering client-focused solutions to customer needs
  • Excellent listening, negotiation and presentation abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • English native speaker or equivalent
  • A-Level grades A-B
  • Higher education degree in a relevant technical or scientific subject (2:1 minimum)
  • 2-3 years of relevant sales experience working preferably with medical devices
  • Good working knowledge of the medical diagnostic field
  • Ability to demonstrate products to potential customers
