BMC Recruitment are looking for an experienced Retrofit Assessor/Domestic Energy Assessor to work with one of the fastest growing businesses in the North East, if you’re looking for something exciting and challenging role this may be the role for you.

 

JOB SUMMARY 

A Retrofit Assessor’s role is to undertake retrofit assessments in accordance with PAS 2035, the specification for the energy retrofit of domestic buildings. This includes conducting on site assessments and surveys, analyse data to identify areas for improvement and prepare technical reports. 

 

DAILY RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Undertake retrofit assessments in accordance with PAS 2035, the specification for the energy retrofit of domestic buildings. 
  • You will be conducting on site assessments and surveys, analyse data to identify areas for improvement and prepare technical reports. 
  • Provide administrative support to the delivery of projects. 
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions with clients and residents. 
  • Provide enhanced retrofit advice to support a householder’s journey to a low carbon home. 
  • Deliver retrofit focused home visits or surveys with minimal support. 
  • Help to maintain and manage relationships with installers to whom we refer clients for further support. 
  • Provide support to Retrofit Coordinators in the management of the retrofit project. 
  • Develop guidance or materials which help support the team in the delivery of advice to clients. 
  • Advise households about grants and switch energy tariffs. 
  • Support others to maintain appropriate client confidentiality at all times in accordance with relevant policies and procedures. 
  • Represent the business with external events and conferences as required. 
  • Liaise with other staff in the company team to ensure effective workload planning, project development and delivery. 
  • The postholder will help build and maintain relationships with clients and installers. 
  • The postholder will work closely with immediate colleagues in the team, in particular the Retrofit Coordinators and will develop and maintain effective communication and working relationships with colleagues across the business. 
  • The postholder will have personal contact with clients and will follow established procedures and processes for obtaining essential information to signpost to appropriate services and support organisations. 

 

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS 

  • Prior Retrofit assessment experience essential. 
  • Can take dimensions and produce floor plans of complex buildings. 
  • Can use software to create 2D and 3D models of buildings. 
  • Mathematical skills to calculate dimensions (floor area, volume etc.) of buildings. 
  • Good understanding of low carbon and energy efficiency technologies. 
  • Have experience of energy efficiency retrofit, gained within a social housing environment. 
  • Understand the impact of energy efficiency retrofit on residential properties, residents and communities. 
  • Strong knowledge of current environment and sustainability issues. 
  • Confident & Competent in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook. 
  • Good interpersonal and strong communication skills. 
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills. 
  • Strong time management skills, allowing switching between a variety of tasks and meeting a combination of daily, weekly and monthly deadlines. 
  • Must be analytical and Problem Solving with enthusiasm to enhance, improve, optimise, streamline. 
  • A flexible, self-motivating and agile attitude, allowing you to respond to client needs. 
  • An inquisitive and curious personality, leading you to discover interesting content and provide original commentary. 
  • Demonstrable experience working in sustainability and the environment. 
  • Experience in supporting projects to understand and improve environmental and social supply chain impacts. 
  • Meticulous attention to detail and precise record keeping skills. 
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, mentoring and motivating, creating a team spirit, encouraging them to be at their best. 
  • Ability to influence different departments to suggest, implement and track more efficient processes.
