Management Accountant




BMC Accountancy and Finance are delighted to be working alongside an established business in the County Durham area who are currently looking to recruit an Management Accountant on a full time, permanent contract.

This is a Monday to Friday, office based role that offers hybrid working.

The Management Accountant role is required to lead the monthly and annual production/review of management accounts for the business. The role holder will also be fully integrated into the ERP implementation project as well as the quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting process.

This role will also work with the UK Management Accounting team that oversees all of the UK businesses as well as having frequent interaction with European sister companies.

The role holder will have the attributes to work in a changing environment and who is comfortable proposing, justifying, initiating and / or implementing change.  Excellent financial skills coupled with commercial acumen are key but soft skills are equally, if not more important in terms of the impact the role will have.

The Management Accountant will need to apply their analytical skills beyond the finance function and to apply them to a broad range of local commercial issues.  The ability to listen, interpret, influence, negotiate, challenge, and energise are all important to the role.

Personal attributes:

  •   Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
  •   Qualified or near-qualified CIMA preferred or ACCA or ACA
  •   Minimum of 2 years of experience in a commercial environment
  •   Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  •   Proficiency in MS Office
  •   Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  •   Strong analytical skills
  •   Strong multitasking skills
  •   Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  •   Self-starter and team player
  •   Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines

The responsibilities of the Management Accountant include:

  • Produce month end and year end journals
  • Provide accurate and sound management reporting to assist with key decision making
  • Contribute to annual budgeting and planning process
  • Analyse financial information to assist business profitability and growth
  • Manage site capital expenditure
  • Review accounting processes and practices and improve where necessary to ensure efficient financial operations
