Searching for a proactive Health and Safety Coordinator - this full-time, permanent office-based position is exciting and full of potential to progress your career!

Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm - with the addition of an excellent opportunity to achieve a fully funded a NEBOSH qualification!

You will have a minimum of two years’ experience within this or a similar role - reporting directly to the Director of Health and Safety, you'll be the linchpin ensuring we're not just compliant but exemplary when it comes to our Health and Safety culture and help shepherd our fire strategy and manage the complexities of Martyn's Law preparation and GDPR compliance – no small feats!

Tasks/Responsibilities as follows:

  • Work with the Director responsible for Health and Safety to ensure implementation of current health and safety legislation that impacts on staff, visitors and tenants and requirements for a safe place and systems of work.
  • Work with the Director responsible for Health and Safety to design and deliver the annual Health and Safety action plan and review its progress.
  • Support to review and develop Health and Safety policy, procedures and arrangements.
  • Obtaining advice from external consultants on best practise and supporting the annual Health and Safety audits.
  • Undertake site inspections, which may involve plant and equipment located on the roof or other harder to access areas.
  • Maintain all accident and incident records, prepare monthly monitoring statistics, and support in preparation of reports to enforcement authorities, insurance company and Board if appropriate.
  • Be responsible for fire safety measures including updating fire procedures, assisting with the annual fire risk assessment and auditing the regular fire safety check undertaken by the Maintenance Team.
  • Arrange, attend and take minutes at the quarterly Health & Safety Managers meetings.
  • Assist in the programming of staff training and inductions of new starters in relation to Health & Safety.
  • Ensure all documents are in place in relation to Health & Safety for external users of the site.
  • Act as the Nominated Person for GDPR for the business and lead preparation for Martyn’s law for enhanced tier sites.
  • Support the department and its function in all aspects of Administration as required.

Qualifications /Certification /Experience Required:

 

  • IOSH or NEBOSH General Certificate - desirable but not essential
  • Must have minimum experience of two years - relevant of working within health and safety role, preferably within a multi-site organisation.
  • Demonstrable understanding of health & safety legislation, regulations, and best practices
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, developing policies, and delivering training programs.
  • Experience of working with multi-external sources and organisations to ensure correct operations and scheme delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literate and adept with Microsoft programmes and other applications
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
