Assistant Finance Manager

BMC Accountancy and Finance are delighted to be working in partnership with a established business in the Middlesbrough area who are looking to recruit an Assistant Finance Manager on a permanent contract.

As Assistant Finance Manager, your role will oversee the support of the Finance Manager in assisting them with both the running of the finance team and assisting with advanced accounting and payroll duties.

Job Duties include: 

  • Supporting the Finance Manager with monthly management accounts including Accruals, Prepayments, Balance Sheet Controls and Profit and Loss Analysis
  • Prepare timely and accurate daily and weekly reporting including Sales and Margin analysis
  • Proactively highlight issues/variances which require action
  • Working with a team and offering support where required
  • Payroll – recording of hours working, submission to outsource payroll provider and checking of payslips
  • Bank reconciliation
  • VAT returns
  • Assist with month end reconciliations
  • Assist with annual audit
  • Provide cover for credit control and purchase ledger

Person Specification:

  • Minimum AAT Qualified
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience
  • Preferable – Part CIMA / ACCA Qualified
  • Preferable – Experience of working in a similar role especially Manufacturing Accounts
  • Preferable – Understanding Standard Costing, Labour and Material Variances.
  • Strong data analysis and interpretation skills
  • Strong IT competent using Microsoft Office, high level Microsoft Excel skills are compulsory
