Accounts Payable Manager


£45,000 - £50,000


Reporting to the Head of Finance Operations, the Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for providing overall direction and leadership to the Accounts Payable team, including management of 3 direct reports. The AP team of circa 23 is responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate and complete payables of suppliers invoices.


Main responsibilities

  • To provide leadership and delivery for the Accounts payable function. Lead the team and ensure they are aware and carry out their responsibilities effectively and have the opportunity to develop within their roles
  • Development / design of AP policy, governance, processes, practices and standards.
  • Drive standardisation, simplification across the AP process using technology
  • Embed continuous improvement culture within the FSSC, and play an active role in change, highlighting opportunities for improvement and increased customer satisfaction.
  • Support the Head of Finance Operations in ensuring service delivery of the agreed tasks within the agreed SLA
  • Proactively deal with and ensure management are aware any emerging issues that affect month end reporting at the earliest opportunity
  • Participate in ERP upgrade during the specification, UAT and training phases


Person specification

  • Preferably holds a degree, a diploma or certificates in finance related qualification or significant experience in a similar role
  • Team management experience in a similar role is essential: Minimum of 5 years of directly related accounting experience, preferably in a large, high volume corporate environment, with 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Ability to identify areas to improve processes and follow these successfully through to completion
  • Ability to solve technical and non-technical accounting problems related to AP.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable principles and practices and knowledge of regulatory requirements related to the functional area.
