If you’ve set out your career goals but you’re now wondering how you’re going to achieve them, we’ve composed a few tips and advice on how to propel your professional stance in 2018.

Expand your network:

Reach out to contacts, sign up to networking events and register for industry related events – all will help to boost your professional circle allowing you to get closer to contacts who could really open those doors.

Build your online portfolio:

Develop your online presence, make sure your LinkedIn profile is bang up to date, comment on topics within industry forums and really establish yourself in the industry by building your network. LinkedIn and other B2B social media platforms are an excellent way of conducting social listening –tune into topics that matter to you, your peers or the company/ies you would like to work for or be associated with.

Advance your skills:

You may feel like you don’t have the time to commence a further qualification, but you can still boost your knowledge and skills by accessing industry reports, blogs and articles that will all help you to refresh and update your skill set- this is also excellent preparation for upcoming interviews. Keep your skills sharp and be aware of what is occurring in your sector.

Review job trends:

Have you noticed a former colleague or career peer updating their LinkedIn with a job title that stands out? Many employers are keen to update job titles as role requirements become even more specialised and niche – keep a watch and make sure to include any keywords relating to your skills within your CV and online portfolio.

Leverage your leadership potential:

Build your case for promotion or moving up in your career by taking on additional responsibilities, management projects or take on leadership duties – all will benefit your experience and help you to grow your leadership potential.

Find a career mentor:
